Job Description

Job Summary:
The QA Engineer is responsible for operating and programming the Mitutoyo CMM to perform precise dimensional inspections of castings, machined components, assemblies, and parts. This role ensures that products meet engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. The engineer works in a manufacturing or precision engineering environment, utilizing MCOSMOS software for CMM programming and inspection, along with data analysis to support production, quality control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities 

Operate and program Mitutoyo CMM for dimensional inspections (FAI & in-process)
Develop inspection programs based on GD&T and engineering drawings
Ensure parts meet quality standards and ISO requirements
Perform measurements, analyze results, and resolve discrepancies with teams
Maintain inspection records and quality documentation
Conduct incoming inspections (GRN) and monitor in-process rejections
Handle field failure analysis and prepare reports
Track supplier performance (PPM) and support audits
Inspect new development parts and verify PPAP documents
Manage supplier audits and calibration activities

Required Skill Set:

Proficient in GD&T principles
Experience in CMM programming and operation
Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
Understanding of casting and machining processes (preferred) and ISO 9001 standards
Basic MS Office skills for reporting and documentation

Preferred Skill Set 

Experience with CMM software (MCOSMOS or similar)
Knowledge of GD&T and inspection processes
Familiarity with casting/machining & quality standards (ISO)
Exposure to PPAP, FAI, and audits
Basic calibration and root cause analysis skills
Good analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
