Inspect incoming materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, duplex, super duplex, nickel alloys, copper alloys, and non-ferrous metals.
Verify Mill Test Certificates (MTCs) against purchase orders and customer specifications.
Conduct dimensional inspection using Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thickness gauges, and measuring tapes.
Ensure compliance with ASTM, ASME, DIN, EN, ISO, BS, and customer-specific standards.
Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI), hardness testing, and coordinate NDT activities (UT, PT, MT, RT) whenever required.
Prepare inspection reports, dimensional reports, material traceability reports, and dispatch quality documents.
Coordinate with third-party inspection agencies such as TPI, Lloyd's Register, DNV, BV, SGS, and client inspectors.
Review chemical and mechanical test reports.
Identify non-conforming materials and initiate NCR (Non-Conformance Report).
Maintain calibration records of measuring instruments.
Support ISO 9001 Quality Management System documentation and internal audits.
Coordinate with procurement, warehouse, production, and dispatch teams to ensure quality compliance before shipment.
Ensure proper identification, tagging, storage, and traceability of all materials.
Maintain inspection records for customer and statutory requirements.
Assist in root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Required Qualifications
Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
2–5 years of experience in steel, stainless steel, pipes, fittings, flanges, fasteners, or metal products.
Freshers with strong technical knowledge may also be considered.
Technical Skills
Knowledge of ASTM, ASME, API, DIN, EN, ISO, and BS standards.
Ability to read engineering drawings and customer specifications.
Experience in MTC verification and preparation.
Knowledge of stainless steel grades, carbon steel, alloy steel, duplex, super duplex, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, copper alloys, and aluminium.
Familiarity with welding inspection and WPS/PQR documentation is an advantage.
Good understanding of heat treatment, coating, galvanizing, and surface finish requirements.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and ERP software.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 documentation and quality procedures.
