We are looking for an experienced Purchase Manager to handle procurement for sheet metal fabrication, including sourcing raw materials and consumables, vendor development, cost optimization, and ensuring timely material availability to support production.”
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Source and procure raw materials like MM MS sheets, stainless steel, aluminium, etc.
Handle procurement of fabrication consumables (fasteners, welding rods, gases, tools, etc.)
Develop and maintain a reliable vendor base
Vendor Management
Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts
Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, cost)
Cost Control & Budgeting
Implement cost-saving initiatives and value engineering
Track market trends for steel and metal pricing
Prepare procurement budgets and ensure adherence
Inventory & Planning
Coordinate with production and planning teams for material requirements
Maintain optimal inventory levels (avoid shortages or overstocking)
Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules
Quality & Compliance
Ensure purchased materials meet required specifications and quality standards
Work with QA/QC team for vendor quality audits
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Documentation & Systems
Manage purchase orders, contracts, and procurement records
Use ERP systems for procurement planning and tracking
Generate MIS reports for management review
Required Skills
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
Knowledge of sheet metal materials and fabrication processes
Understanding of supply chain and inventory management
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and MS Excel
Analytical and cost optimization mind set.
