About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchase Engineer to manage procurement operations for mechanical and industrial components. The ideal candidate will ensure timely sourcing, quality compliance, and cost-effective purchasing to support smooth production and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for valves, fittings, flanges, pipes, and mechanical components
Floating inquiries, obtaining quotations, and performing technical & commercial comparison
Negotiating pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors
Preparing purchase orders and ensuring timely material delivery
Coordinating with store, design, and production teams to meet inventory and project requirements
Handling vendor management, performance evaluation, and corrective actions
Maintaining updated documentation in ERP systems (POs, GRNs, pricing records, etc.)
Working with QA/QC team to ensure compliance with technical specifications and standards
Tracking and maintaining optimum stock levels to avoid shortages or over-procurement
Monitoring logistics, dispatches, and resolving supply chain issues
Cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality and delivery
Skills & Qualifications
BE / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
Min. 2+ years experience in purchasing industrial/engineering products
Strong understanding of valves, piping materials, and mechanical components
Vendor development and negotiation skills
Knowledge of ERP/Purchase software (SAP / Tally / Zoho etc.)
Strong communication and documentation skills
Analytical and problem-solving mindset
