Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced and responsible Production Executive / Production Supervisor to manage day-to-day production activities in a packaged food manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth production operations, achieving daily production targets, maintaining product quality and hygiene standards, minimizing wastage, and ensuring compliance with food safety and company procedures.
The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in food production, preferably in packaged foods, salted snacks, namkeen, ready-to-eat products, extruded products, fried products, or similar FMCG/Food Processing industries.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Planning & Execution
Plan and execute daily production activities as per the production schedule.
Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timelines.
Coordinate with the Production Manager, QA/QC, Stores, Maintenance and Dispatch teams.
Allocate manpower and machines based on production requirements.
Monitor production line performance and identify bottlenecks.
Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery and raw materials.
Maintain continuous production flow and minimize downtime.
2. Food Production Operations
Supervise the complete production process from raw material preparation to processing, seasoning, packing and finished goods.
Monitor processes such as:
Raw material handling
Cleaning and sorting
Mixing/blending
Frying/baking/processing
Seasoning
Cooling
Ready-to-eat food preparation
Weighing and filling
Packaging and sealing
Coding and labelling
Finished goods handling
Ensure production parameters are maintained as per approved process standards.
Monitor product consistency, taste, texture, colour, weight and appearance.
3. Quality & Food Safety
Ensure production is carried out according to established SOPs, GMP and food safety standards.
Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and production-area hygiene.
Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of machinery and production areas.
Coordinate with the QA/QC team for quality checks and corrective actions.
Ensure proper handling and storage of food materials to avoid contamination.
Monitor critical production parameters and report deviations immediately.
Ensure proper batch identification and traceability.
4. Packaging Operations
Supervise packaging activities for finished food products.
Ensure correct pack size, weight, packaging material, batch number, manufacturing date, expiry/best-before date and MRP are maintained.
Monitor sealing quality and packaging integrity.
Minimize packaging material wastage.
Ensure proper functioning of weighing, filling, sealing and coding machines.
Check finished products before moving them to the finished goods area.
5. Manpower Management
Allocate workers/operators to different production lines.
Monitor attendance and productivity of production workers.
Train workers on production processes, hygiene, safety and SOPs.
Ensure discipline and proper use of PPE on the shop floor.
Monitor worker performance and identify training requirements.
Manage manpower effectively during peak production requirements.
6. Raw Material & Inventory Coordination
Coordinate with Stores for timely availability of raw materials and packaging materials.
Ensure raw materials are used according to production plans and FIFO/FEFO requirements.
Monitor material consumption and avoid unnecessary wastage.
Report shortages, quality issues or material discrepancies to the concerned department.
7. Production Documentation & MIS
Maintain daily production reports.
Record:
Production quantity
Batch details
Raw material consumption
Manpower utilization
Machine downtime
Production wastage
Rejection/rework
Packaging material consumption
Prepare shift-wise production reports and submit them to the Production Manager.
Maintain proper batch records and production documentation.
8. Wastage & Cost Control
Monitor production losses and wastage.
Identify reasons for rejection, rework and material loss.
Take corrective actions to reduce production wastage.
Improve production efficiency and line productivity.
Support initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising product quality.
9. Machine & Maintenance Coordination
Monitor production machinery and equipment during operations.
Coordinate with the Maintenance team in case of machine breakdowns.
Ensure preventive maintenance activities are carried out as scheduled.
Report abnormal machine performance immediately.
Support troubleshooting and reduction of machine downtime.
10. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with plant safety procedures.
Ensure employees use appropriate PPE.
Maintain safe working conditions on the production floor.
Report accidents, unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.
Ensure production activities comply with applicable food safety and statutory requirements.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of food manufacturing and production processes.
Experience in packaged food / RTE / salted snacks / namkeen / FMCG food production is preferred.
Good understanding of food hygiene, sanitation and GMP practices.
Knowledge of production planning and manpower management.
Ability to handle production targets and work under pressure.
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Good communication and team-handling skills.
Basic knowledge of MS Excel and production reporting.
Ability to work in shifts and manage shop-floor operations.

Qualification
Education:
Diploma / B.Sc. / B.Tech / B.E. in Food Technology, Food Processing, Dairy Technology, Mechanical, Chemical or related discipline.
Candidates with relevant hands-on food production experience may also be considered.
Experience
2–6 years of relevant experience in production/manufacturing, preferably from the packaged food, salted snacks or ready-to-eat food industry.
