A Furniture Production Manager oversees the end-to-end manufacturing process of a furniture plant or workshop, balancing daily output targets, material use, quality control, and workforce supervision.
Production Planning & Scheduling: Translate customer orders, sales forecasts, and architectural drawings into daily and weekly shop-floor manufacturing plans.
Floor & Team Management: Supervise carpenters, upholsterers, CNC operators, assemblers, and packing/dispatch staff (teams typically ranging from 40 to 50+ workers).
Material & Inventory Control: Coordinate the timely procurement and stock management of raw materials—including plywood, MDF, solid wood, laminates, foam, fabric, hardware, and recliner mechanisms.
Quality Control & Standards: Inspect dimensions, joinery, edge-banding, drilling accuracy, finishing, and upholstery to prevent non-conformance and customer complaints.
Wastage & Cost Optimization: Minimize scrap wood and board usage, track production KPIs (such as machine uptime and cycle times), and implement Lean/5S practices.
Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise regularly with design/CAD teams, procurement, sales, and logistics to ensure orders ship on schedule.
Technical Knowledge: Understanding of woodworking, panel-processing, CNC machinery, edge-banding, and upholstery workflows
