Job Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all production activities to ensure products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and according to quality standards. The role focuses on meeting production targets, minimizing downtime, controlling costs, and improving manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
Plan daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
Ensure production targets are achieved within the specified timelines.
Monitor machine utilization and production efficiency.
Coordinate with the Planning, Purchase, Stores, and Dispatch teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
Team Management
Supervise production supervisors, operators, and shop-floor workers.
Allocate manpower according to production requirements.
Conduct training and skill development programs for production staff.
Maintain discipline and improve employee productivity.
Quality Control
Ensure products comply with company quality standards and customer specifications.
Coordinate with the Quality Control (QC) department to resolve quality issues.
Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce defects and rework.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Reduce machine downtime, material wastage, and production losses.
Inventory & Material Management
Monitor raw material availability and coordinate with the purchase and stores departments.
Control production material consumption and minimize waste.
Ensure proper handling and storage of finished and semi-finished goods.
Machine & Maintenance Coordination
Coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Ensure machines are operating safely and efficiently.
Minimize production interruptions caused by equipment failures.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
Promote safe working practices on the shop floor.
Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to statutory requirements.
Reporting
Prepare daily production reports, machine efficiency reports, rejection reports, and manpower reports.
Monitor production KPIs such as output, efficiency, rejection rate, downtime, and productivity.
Present performance reports to senior management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
5–10 years of experience in a hardware manufacturing or engineering production environment.
Experience in handling production teams and manufacturing operations.
