Job Description

Garment Production ManagerIsha Gupta Tayal | Designer Luxury Womenswear

Location: Delhi NCR

Department: Production

Experience: 5–8 years in premium/luxury Indian fashion or occasionwear

About Isha Gupta TayalIsha Gupta Tayal is a contemporary Indian fashion label celebrating femininity through fluid silhouettes, modern drapes, intricate surface detailing and traditional craftsmanship.

Our collections span sarees, anarkalis, shararas, lehengas, gowns, kurta sets, co-ords and statement occasionwear, with a strong focus on craftsmanship, fit, finish and design individuality.

We are looking for a Garment Production Manager who can translate creative vision into consistently excellent finished garments while ensuring production remains organised, commercially viable and on schedule.

The RoleThe Garment Production Manager will own the end-to-end production lifecycle — from receiving approved designs and production requirements to coordinating sampling, sourcing, cutting, stitching, embroidery, finishing, quality control and final dispatch.

This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that in luxury fashion, the smallest production detail can define the final garment.

You will work closely with the Founder/Designer, Design Team, Sampling Team, Masterji/Tailors, Embroidery & Karigar Teams, Vendors and Operations Team.

  • Key Responsibilities1. Production Planning & ExecutionPlan and manage production schedules across multiple styles and categories.

  • Convert approved designs into clear production plans with timelines and priorities.

  • Track every garment from sampling to final finishing and dispatch.

  • Ensure production timelines are aligned with customer delivery commitments.

  • Manage multiple production orders simultaneously without compromising quality.

  • Identify production bottlenecks early and take corrective action.

  • 2. Sampling & Product DevelopmentCoordinate development of first samples, fit samples and pre-production samples.

  • Work closely with the design team to understand silhouettes, construction, fabrics, trims and embellishment requirements.

  • Ensure samples accurately reflect the designer's vision before bulk production.

  • Coordinate corrections and ensure approved samples become the production benchmark.

  • Maintain proper sample records and approved references for every style.

  • 3. Tailoring & Garment ConstructionHave strong practical knowledge of garment construction and tailoring.

  • Understand complex Indian occasionwear including:

  • Sarees and pre-draped sarees

  • Anarkalis

  • Shararas

  • Lehengas

  • Gowns

  • Draped silhouettes

  • Jackets and cape sets

  • Kurta and co-ord sets

  • Understand how different fabrics behave during cutting, stitching, finishing and pressing.

  • Work closely with master tailors to resolve construction and fitting issues.

  • Ensure consistency of measurements and finishing across production.

  • 4. Embroidery, Surface Development & CraftCoordinate with embroidery units, karigars and specialised craftsmen.

  • Understand embroidery, appliqué, surface embellishment, handwork and finishing requirements.

  • Ensure placement, density, colour, texture and workmanship match approved samples.

  • Monitor quality of intricate and multi-layered embellishment.

  • Coordinate between embroidery and garment-construction teams to prevent production issues.

  • 5. Vendor & Karigar ManagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with tailors, embroidery units, fabric vendors and other production partners.

  • Allocate production according to capability, capacity, quality and timelines.

  • Negotiate production rates and ensure commercially viable manufacturing.

  • Monitor vendor performance and resolve delays or quality issues.

  • Develop reliable backup vendors/karigars for critical production processes.

  • Maintain a database of vendors, rates, capabilities and lead times.

6. Quality ControlOwn the quality of every garment leaving production.

Establish quality checkpoints for:

  • Fabric and material quality

  • Cutting

  • Stitching

  • Measurements

  • Fit

  • Embroidery

  • Embellishment placement

  • Seam finishing

  • Lining

  • Pressing

  • Garment finishing

  • Stains, defects and loose threads

  • Final presentation and packing

The Production Manager must be able to spot quality issues personally, not simply depend on someone else's QC report.

  • 7. Costing & Production EfficiencyPrepare and monitor garment production costs.

  • Track tailoring, embroidery, finishing and other production expenses.

  • Identify unnecessary production costs and wastage.

  • Improve production efficiency without compromising the design or quality.

  • Monitor fabric and material consumption.

  • Help the design and management team understand the production implications of new designs.

  • 8. Inventory & Material CoordinationCoordinate fabric, lining, trims, embellishments and other production materials.

  • Ensure materials reach production teams on time.

  • Track material usage and wastage.

  • Prevent production delays caused by missing materials.

  • Coordinate with purchase/inventory teams for replenishment.

9. Custom Orders & Urgent ProductionBecause the brand handles customisation and occasionwear, the Production Manager should be comfortable handling high-priority and deadline-sensitive orders.

  • Prioritise urgent customer orders.

  • Coordinate alterations and custom measurements.

  • Manage last-minute production changes.

  • Ensure promised delivery timelines are realistic and achieved.

  • Existing network of reliable tailors, karigars and production vendors in Delhi NCR.

  • Experience managing both small-batch production and customised orders.

  • Working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets for production tracking and costing.

The Person We Are Looking ForWe are looking for someone who is:

Highly organised — can manage many styles and deadlines without losing track.

Detail-oriented — understands that a 1-inch measurement error or incorrect embroidery placement can compromise a luxury garment.

Hands-on — willing to go to the floor, inspect garments and solve problems directly.

Commercially aware — understands that good production is not only about quality; it is also about controlling cost and wastage.

Solution-oriented — doesn't just report that something is delayed; finds a way to get it back on track.

Strong with people — can manage tailors, karigars, vendors and internal teams firmly but respectfully.

Fashion-sensitive — understands the difference between simply making a garment and executing a designer garment correctly.

Ownership-driven — takes responsibility for the final product rather than treating production as a series of disconnected tasks.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Success in this role will be measured through:

  • On-time production and dispatch

  • First-time-right production percentage

  • Reduction in alterations and rework

  • Garment quality and finishing

  • Production cost adherence

  • Vendor performance

  • Material utilisation and wastage

  • Sampling turnaround time

  • Production bottleneck resolution

  • Customer/order-related production escalations

  • Ability to scale production without compromising brand quality

Ideal Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate is someone who has worked closely with designer womenswear, couture, occasionwear or premium ethnicwear and understands the complete journey:

Design → Sampling → Fabric/Material → Cutting → Tailoring → Embroidery/Handwork → Finishing → QC → Dispatch

They should be equally comfortable discussing a garment's construction, fit, embroidery and fabric behaviour with the production team and discussing cost, timelines and priorities with management.

What This Role Is NOTThis is not a purely administrative production role.

We are not looking for someone who only creates production sheets and follows up with vendors.

We need a hands-on production leader who can take ownership of the garment from the moment a design is approved until the finished piece meets Isha Gupta Tayal's quality standards.

Why Join Isha Gupta Tayal? You will work closely with the creative team and play a direct role in bringing distinctive designer garments to life.

The role offers an opportunity to build and strengthen the production systems behind a growing Indian fashion label while working with intricate silhouettes, contemporary drapes, traditional craftsmanship and premium occasionwear.

If you are passionate about fashion production, craftsmanship and building a high-quality production ecosystem, we would love to hear from you.
