We are looking for a Production Manager to join our team at Daftary Engineering.
Job Summary
The Production Manager oversees shop-floor execution—from raw material melting and molding to pouring, cleaning, and finishing. This role bridges executive strategy and day-to-day plant operations to maximize equipment utilization, minimize scrap and rejections, and maintain strict environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules based on customer orders, capacity limits, and material availability.
• Casting & Process Supervision: Monitor core-making, wax/pattern production, shell molding, metal melting (induction/furnaces), pouring practices, knockout, and fettling.
• Quality Control & Defect Reduction: Partner with quality teams to analyze and cut casting defects (such as porosity, shrinkage, inclusions, and misruns) through root-cause analysis (CAPA).
• Team Leadership & Staffing: Lead, train, and schedule shift supervisors, machine operators, melters, and mold makers.
• Equipment & Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate with maintenance departments to execute preventive maintenance on furnaces, automated lines, and handling systems to boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Cost & Yield Management: Track metal recovery, conversion costs, energy/fuel usage, and raw material consumption against established plant budgets.
• Safety & Compliance (EHS): Enforce strict safety protocols around molten metal, high-heat equipment, PPE compliance, and workplace house-keeping (5S).
Qualification & Experience
Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.E. / B.Tech) in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or Foundry Technology (or a technical diploma with extensive hands-on experience).
Experience: More than 5+ years in manufacturing, with a strong background in foundry operations (such as sand casting, investment casting, or die casting) and 3+ years in a leadership role.
