A Plant Head (or Plant Manager) oversees the entire operation of a manufacturing or production facility, balancing daily shop-floor tasks with long-term strategic goals.
Core Responsibilities
Operations & Production Management: Direct and coordinate daily manufacturing, processing, packaging, and assembly operations to meet production schedules and customer demands.
Quality Control: Implement quality assurance systems, enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and drive down rejections, rework, and scrap rates.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Enforce workplace safety policies (such as PPE and hazard communication), conduct safety audits, and maintain compliance with statutory, environmental, and ISO/IATF standards.
Budget & Cost Control: Develop operational budgets, manage manufacturing cost structures, track profit and loss (P&L) projections, and pursue cost-reduction strategies.
Resource & Supply Chain Coordination: Manage the allocation of manpower, machinery, and raw materials while coordinating with purchasing, stores, and logistics teams.
Equipment & Maintenance Oversight: Oversee preventive maintenance programs, minimize machine downtime, and plan for equipment upgrades or plant expansions.
Leadership & Talent Development: Recruit, train, and mentor plant staff, evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), and foster a productive work culture.
Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing, process optimization, automation, and problem-solving initiatives across all lines.
