FARM OPERATIONS MANAGER

Job Summary :

The Farm Operations Manager will oversee end-to-end commercial crop cultivation. This hands-on leadership role manages daily field operations, ensuring optimal crop yields from raw seed selection through to harvest. You will direct crews, implement scientific growing techniques, and manage precise quality standards to hit yield and revenue targets.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

Seed Quality Assurance (QA)

• Inspect incoming seed lots for purity, germination rates, and physical defects.

• Audit storage environments to strictly regulate temperature, humidity, and ventilation.

• Maintain traceability logs detailing seed batches, supplier certifications, and field performance.

Seeding & Propagation Management

• Calculate exact seeding rates and spacing configurations optimized for specific crop varieties.

• Calibrate planting machinery and automated seed drills to ensure uniform depth and spacing.

• Schedule precision sowing timelines aligned with regional weather patterns and soil readiness.

Soil Mixture & Substrate Optimization

• Collect routine field soil samples for comprehensive laboratory nutrient analysis.

• Formulate customized soil mixtures and compost blends to meet specific crop needs.

• Execute soil reclamation strategies, including pH adjustment, crop rotation, and cover cropping.

Plant Disease & Pest Prevention

• Run daily scouting routines to identify early signs of fungal, bacterial, or viral infections.

• Deploy Integrated Pest Management (IPM) combining physical, biological, and target chemical fixes.

• Enforce farm biosecurity protocols to stop cross-contamination between field plots.

Growth Boosting & Crop Nutrition

• Design custom fertigation schedules delivering vital macro- and micronutrients.

• Apply biostimulants and organic growth regulators to maximize crop metabolism and root depth.

• Optimize precision irrigation systems to reduce water stress and boost cell growth.

Job Requirements & Skills

• Education: Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Agriculture, Agronomy, or Horticulture.

• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years supervising commercial farm operations or large-scale nurseries.

• Technical Skills: Expert proficiency in IPM frameworks, soil chemistry analysis, and farm automation software.

• Core Competencies: Strong team leadership, resource budgeting, and data-driven problem solving.

• It is a Full Time Manufacturing job for candidates with 3 - 5 years of experience.
