Job Description: Design Engineer
Location: Manufacturing Unit
Reporting Manager: General Manager
Roles & Responsibilities:
Ø Understanding the needs of the management and customers and applying it in the new design.
Ø Conducting research in design and engineering methods required to achieve the designs.
Ø Need to be well-versed with design tools such as SolidWorks/Solid Edge.
Ø New Project Developments (NPD).
Ø Working with clients and colleagues to develop a design brief.
Ø Using mathematical knowledge and skills to design solutions.
Ø Researching whether the design will work and be cost-effective.
Ø Assessing and testing the usability, environmental impact and safety of a design.
Ø Using computer-aided design SOLIDWORK, and computer-aided engineering (CAE) software to create prototypes.
Ø Collecting and analysing data from tests on prototypes.
Ø Modifying designs and retesting them.
Ø Managing the development process, including tracking progress and costs, and keeping clients informed.
Ø Meeting with clients and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements.
Ø Researching to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
Ø Performing computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the designs.
Ø Overseeing the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
Ø Documenting the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
Ø Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets.
Ø Liaising with clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
Ø Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.
Ø Keeping abreast of the latest advancements in technology, design trends, and engineering best practices.
Skills & Requirements:
Ø Diploma or BE in mechanical engineering.
Ø Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer.
Ø PE certification is advantageous.
Ø Proficiency with engineering design programs such as Solidworks and Catia.
Ø Sound knowledge of design and engineering principles and best practices.
Ø Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ø Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
Ø Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Ø Attentive to detail and critically minded.
Ø The ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
