The Flexo Printing Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining flexographic printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials on various substrates such as paper, film, or foil. This role ensures printing jobs meet quality standards, production goals, and safety requirements.
Machine Setup & Operation
Prepare and install printing plates, inks, cylinders, and substrates according to job specifications.
Adjust press settings such as tension, registration, color, and impression to achieve desired print quality.
Operate flexographic press (e.g., narrow web, wide web, or label press) efficiently and safely.
Quality Control
Conduct press checks and monitor print quality throughout production.
Identify and correct print defects such as color variations, registration issues, or streaking.
Use measurement tools (e.g., densitometer, spectrophotometer) to maintain color consistency.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of press components, rollers, and anilox sleeves.
Troubleshoot mechanical or printing issues and communicate major repairs to maintenance personnel.
Keep press and work area clean and organized.
Production Management
Follow job orders and production schedules to meet deadlines.
Record production data such as material usage, waste, and downtime.
Ensure materials and supplies are available and properly labeled.
Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE).
Comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, GMP).
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
1–3 years of experience operating a flexographic printing press (Mark Andy, Nilpeter, Comco, Bobst, etc.).
Strong understanding of color theory, ink systems, and substrates.
Ability to read and interpret production specifications and job tickets.
Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Good attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for color matching and fine adjustments.
Manufacturing or printing facility environment with exposure to inks, solvents, and moderate noise.
Shift work may be required depending on production schedules.
