A Maintenance Engineer ensures industrial equipment runs smoothly by planning and performing preventive/predictive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing faults, installing new machinery, managing spares, documenting work, training staff, and ensuring safety, often requiring a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and strong problem-solving skills to minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive Maintenance: Schedule and execute routine checks, servicing, and inspections to prevent breakdowns.
Corrective Maintenance: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment malfunctions quickly to restore operation.
Installation & Upgrades: Install new machinery and remove old equipment, potentially training users.
Strategy & Planning: Develop maintenance strategies (preventive, predictive) and create maintenance procedures.
Inventory & Logistics: Manage stocks of spare parts and order specialized components.
Documentation: Keep detailed records of faults, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and standards.
Supervision: Oversee contractors or junior technical staff.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of industrial machinery, electrical/mechanical systems, and potentially PLCs.
