CMM Operator – Roles & Responsibilities
Position: CMM Operator (Coordinate Measuring Machine Operator)
Key Responsibilities:
Operate CMM Equipment
Set up and operate CMM machines for dimensional inspection of components.
Run inspection programs as per customer and drawing requirements.
Dimensional Inspection
Perform accurate measurements of manufactured parts using CMM.
Verify dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, and geometric specifications.
Program Execution & Editing
Execute existing CMM programs.
Modify and optimize programs when required.
Support development of new inspection programs (depending on experience level).
Interpret Engineering Drawings
Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Ensure inspection requirements are correctly applied.
Quality Documentation
Prepare inspection reports and maintain measurement records.
Record non-conformities and inspection results accurately.
Calibration & Maintenance
Conduct routine machine checks and basic preventive maintenance.
Ensure measuring equipment is calibrated and functioning properly.
Problem Identification
Identify dimensional deviations and quality issues.
Coordinate with Quality Engineers and Production teams for corrective actions.
Compliance & Safety
Follow company quality standards, SOPs, and safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of CMM operation and measurement techniques.
Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
Familiarity with measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Bore Gauge.
Knowledge of quality standards and inspection procedures.
Basic computer skills for report generation and data entry.
Preferred Qualification:
ITI / Diploma / B.E. (Mechanical or relevant field)
Experience in Automotive, Manufacturing, Precision Engineering, or Quality Inspection industries.
