Job Summary
A Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment and machinery used in manufacturing plants, construction sites, power plants, refineries, and industrial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.
Assemble and fit mechanical components, pipes, shafts, bearings, pumps, valves, and gear systems.
Perform installation, alignment, and calibration of machinery and equipment.
Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance.
Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out repairs.
Use hand tools, power tools, welding, and measuring instruments safely.
Replace defective machine parts and ensure proper functioning.
Maintain maintenance records and job reports.
Follow workplace safety standards and permit systems.
Coordinate with electricians, welders, and production teams during shutdowns and maintenance activities.
Required Skills
Knowledge of mechanical systems and industrial machinery.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Familiarity with pumps, compressors, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of safety procedures and PPE usage.
