CNC Machine Operator

A CNC job involves operating and setting up computer numerical control (CNC) machines to manufacture parts by following technical plans, monitoring the machinery, and performing quality checks on the finished products. Responsibilities include programming machines, troubleshooting issues, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.  

Core responsibilities

• Machine setup and operation:

  Set up and run CNC machines by loading materials, programming the correct commands, and operating the machinery to produce parts according to specifications. 

• Blueprint and design interpretation:

  Read and understand technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to ensure the final product meets all design requirements. 

• Quality assurance:

  Inspect finished parts using precision tools like calipers and micrometers to ensure they meet exact specifications and quality standards. 

• Maintenance and troubleshooting:

  Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure they are running efficiently and troubleshoot any issues that arise during production. 

• Inventory management:

  Monitor stock levels of materials and place orders when needed. 

• Safety compliance:

  Adhere to all safety protocols, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a safe work environment. 

Key skills and qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics.

• Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.

• Familiarity with CNC machine operation and programming languages like G-code.

• Proficiency with precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers.

• Basic math and computer skills.

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. 

Typical work environment

• Physical demands: May involve standing for long periods, bending, and lifting.

• Environment: Manufacturing facilities or machine shops, which can be noisy and require the use of PPE like safety glasses and earplugs. 

• It is a Full Time Manufacturing job for candidates with 0 - 6 months of experience.
