Job Description – CNC Turning Operator (Die & Mould Manufacturing)
Department: Manufacturing / Tool Room
Reports To: Production Manager / Tool Room Head
Key Responsibilities:
Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T symbols, and 3D CAD models related to Die & Injection Mould components.
Set up and operate CNC Turning (Lathe) machines to manufacture precision components such as nozzles, neck inserts, cores, cavities, sleeves, bushes, die components, etc.
Ensure continuous, safe, and efficient machine operation during production cycles.
Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and machining parameters for hardened and pre-hardened tool steels.
Optimize cutting speeds, feeds, and depths of cut to achieve required surface finish, dimensional accuracy, sealing areas, and threaded profiles.
Possess strong working knowledge of CNC lathe operations and basic programming using FANUC / Siemens controls.
Perform in-process and final inspection using Vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and surface roughness testers.
Maintain machining records, inspection reports, and tool life logs as per company standards.
Carry out preventive maintenance activities, including lubrication, coolant management, chip removal, machine cleaning, and basic alignment checks.
Maintain 5S, safety, and housekeeping standards in the machining area.
Coordinate with Design, Tool Room, Production, and Quality teams to improve machining processes and resolve technical issues.
Support continuous improvement initiatives for productivity, quality, and cost optimization.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of CNC turning operations for Die & Mould manufacturing.
Knowledge of tool steels, heat-treated materials, and machining challenges.
Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines.
Quality-focused mindset with attention to detail.
