Loader/Unloader

A loader/unloader is a manual labor role responsible for safely and efficiently loading and unloading goods, merchandise, or freight from vehicles and moving them to designated areas within a warehouse, shipping yard, or construction site. Responsibilities include handling items, operating equipment like forklifts and pallet jacks, organizing inventory, checking for damage, adhering to safety procedures, and maintaining accurate documentation. This position is crucial to supply chain operations and requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions.  

Key Responsibilities

• Loading & Unloading:

  Safely moving items, sometimes of varying sizes and weights, from trucks, containers, or other vehicles. 

• Equipment Operation:

  Utilizing tools such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move and position goods. 

• Inventory Management:

  Verifying the quantity and quality of goods, identifying discrepancies, and ensuring proper placement. 

• Safety Compliance:

  Following all safety regulations and company policies to prevent injury and ensure the safe transport of goods. 

• Arranging Goods:

  Stacking and organizing items to maximize space, whether in a vehicle or the warehouse. 

• Documentation:

  Completing necessary paperwork and documentation to track the movement of goods. 

• Warehouse Maintenance:

  Keeping the workspace clean, organized, and free of hazards.
