A Warehouse Helper assists with the physical handling of goods within a warehouse, involving tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, picking and packing orders, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Key duties include receiving and processing stock, verifying quantities, operating basic equipment like pallet jacks, and reporting inventory discrepancies. The role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols. 

Key Responsibilities

• Receiving & Unloading:

  Unload incoming materials from trucks and verify shipments against purchase orders. 

• Order Picking & Packing:

  Select items from storage to fill customer orders, then pack and prepare them for shipment. 

• Inventory Management:

  Sort, organize, label, and store inventory in designated locations, and conduct regular stock takes. 

• Equipment Operation:

  Safely operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move, lift, and store materials. 

• Quality Control:

  Inspect goods for accuracy, quality, and damage, and report any issues to supervisors. 

• Warehouse Maintenance:

  Keep the work environment clean and free of hazards, including sweeping and organizing aisles. 

• Documentation:

  Update inventory logs and maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing merchandise. 

• Teamwork:

  Work collaboratively with other warehouse staff and supervisors to achieve team goals. 

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Stamina:

  The ability to lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks. 

• Attention to Detail:

  Essential for accurately verifying inventory, picking orders, and processing shipments. 

• Teamwork:

  Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with others. 

• Safety Awareness:

  A commitment to following all safety procedures and maintaining a safe work environment. 

• Basic Equipment Operation:

  Proficiency in using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and potentially a forklift (a license may be required). 

• Basic Literacy & Numeracy:

  For reading work orders, counting items, and updating records.
