X-Ray Technician

An X-ray technician (radiologic technologist) produces diagnostic images by positioning patients and operating imaging equipment, such as X-ray machines, BMD Dexa, or OPG and RVG. They ensure patient safety and maintaining high image quality for physicians.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care: Preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, answering questions

Imaging Procedures: Positioning patients and equipment, adjusting immobilization devices, and capturing high-quality diagnostic images.

Technical Operation: Operating and performing routine maintenance or troubleshooting on X-ray and imaging equipment.

Safety & Compliance: Adhering to radiation safety guidelines (ALARA principle) and infection control protocols.

Administrative Tasks: Maintaining accurate patient records in PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) and documenting completed procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Education: Typically a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or Medical Imaging.

Certification: Registry with organizations like the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is often required or preferred.

Technical Aptitude: Proficiency with imaging equipment and software.

Communication: Ability to explain procedures to patients and work closely with radiologists.

Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate patient positioning and image quality.
