Position Details

Job Title: Pharmacist
Department: Pharmacy
Reporting To: Pharmacy Manager / Hospital Administrator
Location: RD Hospital

Job Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medicines accurately, maintaining pharmacy stock, ensuring proper storage of medicines, and providing medication guidance to patients as per hospital protocols and doctor prescriptions. The Pharmacist ensures compliance with legal and ethical pharmacy practices while supporting smooth hospital operations.

Key Responsibilities

Medicine Dispensing

Dispense medicines as per valid doctor prescriptions.
Verify dosage, quantity, and instructions before issuing medicines.
Explain medicine usage, dosage timing, and precautions to patients.

Inventory & Stock Management

Maintain proper stock of medicines and consumables.
Check expiry dates regularly and remove expired medicines.
Prepare daily/monthly stock reports.
Coordinate with purchase department for medicine requirements.

Storage & Safety

Ensure medicines are stored at appropriate temperatures.
Maintain cold-chain medicines properly.
Follow NABH and hospital pharmacy protocols.

Billing & Documentation

Generate pharmacy bills accurately.
Maintain prescription records and controlled drug registers.
Update inward and outward stock entries.

Coordination

Coordinate with doctors, nurses, and IPD/OPD departments.
Assist emergency and ICU departments with urgent medicine availability.

Compliance

Follow Pharmacy Act and hospital policies.
Ensure no medicine is dispensed without proper authorization.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information.

Required Qualifications

Diploma in Pharmacy (D Pharm) / bachelor's in pharmacy (B Pharm)
Valid State Pharmacy Council Registration
