We are seeking a skilled Microbiologist to join our team in the nutraceutical industry. The role involves conducting microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and product safety. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the microbial integrity of dietary supplements, functional foods, and related health products.
Perform microbial testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished nutraceutical products.
Conduct environmental monitoring of manufacturing areas to detect potential contamination risks.
Identify and quantify microbial contaminants such as bacteria, yeast, and mold using standard laboratory techniques.
Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., USP, ISO, FDA cGMP, FSMA) for microbiological safety.
Investigate microbial contamination incidents and assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Maintain and calibrate microbiology lab equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets).
Prepare and document test results, protocols, and lab records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Work with QA/QC and production teams to ensure sanitation and hygiene practices are effective.
Assist in the validation of microbiological testing methods and protocols.
Stay current with scientific developments, regulatory changes, and industry best practices.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field (required)
Master’s degree preferred for R&D or senior-level positions
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in a microbiology lab, preferably in the nutraceutical, food, or pharmaceutical industry
Strong knowledge of microbiological testing procedures (e.g., Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mold, Pathogen Testing)
Familiarity with nutraceutical ingredients, supplements, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., DSHEA, FDA, cGMP)
Understanding of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Laboratory and production facility-based work environment
Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict hygiene protocols
May involve occasional overtime or weekend work during audits or production scale-up
