The Andrology Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic laboratory procedures related to male fertility. This includes semen analysis, sperm preparation for intrauterine insemination (IUI), sperm cryopreservation, and other andrology-related tests. The technician ensures high-quality standards in accordance with CLIA, CAP, or other regulatory guidelines and supports physicians and patients through timely and accurate testing.
Perform semen analysis, including evaluation of volume, concentration, motility, morphology, and viability.
Prepare sperm samples for IUI, IVF, and cryopreservation.
Process and freeze sperm specimens for long-term storage (cryopreservation).
Thaw and assess cryopreserved sperm samples.
Maintain accurate records, logs, and laboratory reports in accordance with regulatory and institutional guidelines.
Ensure proper identification, handling, and labeling of all specimens.
Maintain and calibrate lab equipment and ensure cleanliness and sterility of the work area.
Follow all quality control and quality assurance protocols.
Handle patient data confidentially and in compliance with HIPAA and institutional policies.
Provide support during patient procedures, ensuring sensitivity and professionalism.
Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering lab supplies.
Participate in training, continuing education, and proficiency testing as required.
Required:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
Experience in a clinical or laboratory setting.
Strong understanding of basic laboratory techniques and safety practices.
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Preferred:
Prior experience in an andrology, fertility, or reproductive health lab.
Certification (ASCP, AAB, or equivalent) or eligibility preferred.
Familiarity with CLIA, CAP, or FDA regulatory standards.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort with sensitive patient situations and maintaining professionalism.
Time management and organizational skills.
Proficiency in laboratory software and Microsoft Office applications.
