Job Title: Lab Technician (Civil / RMC)

Department: Quality Control / Quality Assurance

Job Summary:

The Lab Technician is responsible for testing and quality verification of raw materials and Ready-Mix Concrete produced in the building materials plant. The role ensures that materials comply with industry standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct routine tests on fresh concrete (slump, temperature, density, air content) and prepare specimens for compressive strength testing.

Perform testing of raw materials including cement, fine aggregates, coarse aggregates, admixtures, and water as per IS/ASTM standards.

Carry out tests such as sieve analysis, specific gravity, water absorption, bulk density, and moisture content.

Monitor aggregate moisture and coordinate adjustments in mix water with batching plant operator.

Ensure production batches follow approved mix designs and maintain consistency in concrete quality.

Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (CTM, slump cone, ovens, sieve shaker, etc.) and ensure timely calibration.

Maintain laboratory records, test reports, calibration logs, cube test registers, and daily production quality documentation.

Assist QA/QC Engineer with troubleshooting concrete quality issues at plant or customer site.

Ensure adherence to safety standards, housekeeping, and environmental procedures in the laboratory.

Support internal and external audits for compliance with ISO 9001 / company quality standards.

Required Skills & Competencies:

Knowledge of concrete materials, mix design basics, and RMC manufacturing process.

Ability to operate mechanical and testing equipment accurately.

Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.

Communication and coordination skills for plant and site interaction.

Education & Experience:

Diploma / B.Tech / B.Sc. in Civil Engineering or related field.

1–3years’ experience in RMC Lab / Building Material Testing (preferred).
