Job Summary
We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented Assistant Lab Technician to support laboratory operations, sample collection, processing, testing, documentation, and maintaining laboratory hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collection, labeling, handling, and processing of patient samples.
- Support laboratory technicians in routine diagnostic and pathological tests.
- Prepare samples, reagents, equipment, and workstations for testing.
- Ensure proper identification and safe handling of all specimens.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, and test-related documentation.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment as instructed.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and laboratory safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the laboratory and work areas.
- Ensure proper storage and disposal of samples, reagents, and biomedical waste.
- Report damaged equipment, discrepancies, or abnormal observations to the Lab In-Charge.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, front office, and other departments when required.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
- Support inventory management and ensure adequate availability of laboratory consumables.
- Assist during internal and external audits and maintain required documentation.
- Perform any other laboratory-related duties assigned by the reporting manager.
Qualification
- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / relevant Medical Laboratory Technology qualification from a recognized institution.
- Freshers may be considered based on organizational requirements.
- Previous experience in a hospital, diagnostic centre, or pathology laboratory will be an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and sample handling.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of infection control and biomedical waste management.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including weekends/holidays, if required.
- Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
