Lab/Pharmacy Chemist - Quality Control

Responsibility of Quality Control (QC) Chemist in Fa Beauty Pvt Ltd

To ensures that raw materials, products in process, and finished cosmetics meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards before they reach consumers.

Key responsibilities

1. Raw material testing
2. Verify the identity and quality of incoming ingredients.
3. Check appearance, odor, pH, viscosity, specific gravity, and other specifications.
4. Approve or reject raw materials before production.

In-process quality control

1. Monitor batches during manufacturing.
2. Test parameters such as pH, viscosity, color, homogeneity, and temperature.
3. Ensure the manufacturing process follows the approved formula.

Finished product testing

1. Test finished products for appearance, pH, viscosity, stability, microbial limits, fill volume/weight, and packaging quality.
2. Release only products that meet specifications.

Microbiological quality

1. Coordinate or perform microbial testing.
2. Ensure products comply with microbiological limits and preservative effectiveness requirements.

Stability and compatibility studies

1. Conduct stability testing under different temperature and huidity conditions.
2. Evaluate product compatibility with packaging materials.

Packaging Material Testing

1. Inspect and approve packaging materials such as bottles, tubes, jars, pumps, caps, labels, cartons, and shrink sleeves.
2. Verify packaging dimensions, color, artwork, printing quality, barcode, batch coding area, and material specifications against approved standards.
3. Perform functional tests such as leakage, torque, drop, compatibility, and seal integrity.
4. Conduct packaging compatibility studies with the cosmetic formulation to ensure there are no interactions, discoloration, leakage, or deformation during shelf life.
5. Ensure packaging complies with regulatory requirements, product specifications, and approved artwork.
6. Approve or reject packaging materials based on quality standards before they are released for production.

Documentation

1. Maintain batch records, test reports, certificates of analysis (COAs), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and laboratory records.
2. Ensure documentation complies with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Instrument calibration

Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments such as pH meters, viscometers, balances, spectrophotometers, and HPLC (where applicable).

Regulatory compliance

Ensure compliance with cosmetic regulations and GMP standards such as ISO 22716 and applicable national regulations. Assist during internal and external audits.

Investigation and corrective actions

Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results and customer complaints.Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

A QC Chemist plays a critical role in ensuring every cosmetic product is safe, consistent, effective, and compliant with quality standards before it is released to the market.
