*Role Title*
Software Tester / QA Engineer / QA Analyst
*Core Purpose*
Make sure software works correctly, is reliable, and gives users a good experience before it goes live. You’re the last line of defense for bugs.
*Key Responsibilities*
- *Test Planning*: Read requirements, write test cases and test plans
- *Manual Testing*: Execute functional, regression, smoke, and exploratory tests on web, mobile, or desktop apps
- *Bug Reporting*: Find defects, log them with steps to reproduce, and track them till closure
- *Automation*: Build and maintain automated test scripts using tools like Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium
- *API Testing*: Test backend using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools
- *Collaboration*: Work with developers, BAs, and product managers to clarify requirements and verify fixes
- *Release Support*: Participate in UAT, performance testing, and final sign-off
*Must-Have Skills*
- *Technical*: Knowledge of SDLC, STLC, bug life cycle. SQL basics.
- *Tools*: Jira, TestRail, Git, Selenium, Postman, Jenkins
- *Automation*: Any one language: Python, Java, or JavaScript
