The IT Asset Manager is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle management of the organization’s IT assets, including hardware, software, licenses, and related infrastructure. This role ensures cost efficiency, compliance, risk mitigation, and optimal utilization of IT resources while aligning asset management strategies with business and technology objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement IT asset management (ITAM) policies, procedures, and best practices.
Manage the lifecycle of IT assets from procurement, deployment, maintenance, upgrades, to disposal.
Maintain accurate asset inventories using ITAM tools and ERP systems.
Track software licenses to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
Conduct regular audits of hardware and software assets.
Collaborate with IT, finance, procurement, and security teams to optimize asset usage and budgeting.
Monitor asset depreciation, warranty status, and service contracts.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts where applicable.
Ensure secure disposal of retired IT equipment in compliance with data protection regulations.
Prepare reports on asset utilization, compliance, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
3-4 years of experience in IT asset management, IT operations, or IT procurement.
Strong knowledge of hardware, software licensing models, and IT infrastructure.
Experience with IT asset management tools (e.g., Manage Engine, Jumpcloud, ServiceNow, SCCM, Flexera, or similar).
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
ITIL Certification (Foundation or higher).
Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM) or similar certification.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Knowledge of cybersecurity and data privacy regulations.
