Job Summary
The Laptop Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, testing, and refurbishing laptops to meet company quality standards. The role requires technical accuracy, speed, and adherence to SOPs to ensure refurbished laptops are ready for resale with minimal turnaround time.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnosis & Repair
Diagnose hardware and basic software issues in laptops received for refurbishing
Repair or replace faulty components such as motherboard, RAM, HDD/SSD, display, keyboard, battery, ports, and cooling systems
Perform BIOS updates, OS installation, and driver configuration as required
2. Refurbishing & Assembly
Assemble laptops as per defined refurbishing standards
Ensure proper fitting, cable management, and cleanliness during assembly
Use approved tools, spares, and ESD-safe practices
3. Quality Control & Testing
Perform functional testing (boot, display, keyboard, ports, Wi-Fi, battery health, etc.)
Ensure laptops pass internal Technical QC standards before handover
Rework and rectify QC-rejected units within defined timelines
4. ERP & Documentation
Scan and update serial numbers, part replacements, and job status in ERP system
Accurately record repair actions, spares used, and QC status
Maintain traceability of laptops and components
5. Productivity & Turnaround Time
Complete assigned jobs within defined TAT
Coordinate with Team Lead, Store, and Spare Team to avoid delays
Ensure engineers do not face idle time due to pending allocations
6. Compliance & Safety
Follow company SOPs, ESD norms, and safety guidelines
Maintain workbench discipline and 5S standards
Report recurring issues or process gaps to Team Lead
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Units repaired and QC passed per day
First-time QC pass percentage
Repair accuracy (minimum rework)
Adherence to TAT and productivity targets
ERP accuracy and real-time updates
Required Skills & Qualifications
ITI / Diploma / Certification in Electronics, Computer Hardware, or equivalent
1–3 years of experience in laptop/desktop repair or refurbishing (freshers may be considered)
Strong knowledge of laptop hardware components and troubleshooting
Basic understanding of Windows OS installation and BIOS settings
Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
