Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible and detail-oriented Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee the cleanliness and sanitation of the hospital, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for animals, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate should have experience in supervising housekeeping teams, preferably in medical, veterinary, or animal shelter environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise housekeeping staff and assign daily cleaning tasks.
Ensure that all hospital areas—including animal wards, surgical rooms, recovery areas, waiting rooms, and offices—are clean, sanitized, and odor-free.
Train and monitor staff on proper cleaning protocols, especially with regard to infection control and animal safety.
Ensure proper disposal of medical and animal waste in accordance with sanitation and environmental regulations.
Conduct routine inspections of the premises to identify cleanliness issues or maintenance needs.
Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and place orders as necessary.
Coordinate with the veterinary and administrative staff to schedule deep cleaning, disinfection, and pest control activities.
Ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of animal enclosures, bedding, feeding areas, and medical equipment.
Maintain records of cleaning schedules, staff attendance, and incident reports.
Address complaints or special cleaning requests from staff or visitors.
Uphold a compassionate, respectful approach to working in an environment with animals and distressed pet owners.
Qualifications:
Proven experience (1+ years) in a housekeeping supervisory role; experience in hospitals or animal care settings is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of cleaning procedures, infection control, and waste disposal.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive environment.
Excellent organizational, communication, and team leadership skills.
Physically fit and comfortable working around animals of all kinds.
Flexible with working hours, including weekends and emergencies.
Preferred:
Certificate or training in infection control or hospital hygiene.
Previous experience in an animal shelter or veterinary hospital.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to animal odors, waste, and potentially aggressive animals.
Standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
May require protective gear (gloves, masks, etc.) during cleaning tasks.
