JOB DESCRIPTION – HOUSEKEEPING BOY

Position Details

Position: Housekeeping Boy
Department: Housekeeping / Facility Management
Reporting To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Facility Manager
Location: As per site requirement

Job Summary

The Housekeeping Boy is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and proper upkeep of the assigned premises. The employee will perform routine cleaning and housekeeping activities as per the company's and client's standards and instructions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform daily cleaning of assigned areas including floors, rooms, washrooms, corridors, common areas, and other designated spaces.

2. Sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning of surfaces and fixtures.

3. Clean and maintain washrooms, including toilets, wash basins, mirrors, and related areas.

4. Collect and dispose of waste as per the prescribed waste-management procedure.

5. Refill consumables such as tissue paper, handwash, soap, garbage bags, etc., as required.

6. Ensure proper use and safe handling of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and housekeeping tools.

7. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards as per client requirements and company SOPs.

8. Report any maintenance issues, damages, leakage, electrical problems, or other abnormalities to the Supervisor.

9. Follow instructions given by the Housekeeping Supervisor / Facility Manager.

10. Maintain proper discipline, punctuality, personal hygiene, and professional behaviour at the workplace.

11. Wear the prescribed uniform, ID card, and required PPE while on duty.

12. Support the housekeeping team during special cleaning, events, inspections, or other site requirements.

13. Maintain housekeeping equipment and ensure that tools are returned to the designated place after use.

14. Follow all safety, security, fire-safety, and emergency procedures at the site.

15. Maintain confidentiality and behave professionally with clients, visitors, and fellow employees.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Basic understanding of housekeeping and cleaning procedures.

• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

• Good personal hygiene and grooming.

• Punctual, disciplined, responsible, and hardworking.

• Ability to work in shifts, including rotational shifts if required.

• Good communication and courteous behaviour.

• Physically fit to perform routine housekeeping duties.

Qualification & Experience

Education: No specific qualification required; basic literacy preferred.
Experience: Fresher and experienced candidates may apply.
Age: As per company policy and applicable law.

Working Conditions

• Full-time site-based position.

• May require rotational shifts, weekly off as per duty roster.

• Duties may involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, and handling cleaning equipment.

• Employee must comply with all client and company safety requirements.
