Housekeeper Job Description

Position Summary

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, comfortable, and tidy environment for guests, residents, or employees. This role ensures that assigned areas are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards of hygiene and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean, dust, and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.

• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or scrub floors, carpets, and rugs.

• Change bed linens and make beds in guest rooms or living areas.

• Wash windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces.

• Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, showers, and tubs.

• Replenish towels, toiletries, and other supplies as needed.

• Empty trash and recycling bins and replace liners.

• Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards.

• Follow health and safety regulations and company cleaning procedures.

• Maintain cleaning equipment and ensure proper storage of supplies.

• Assist with laundry duties (washing, drying, folding) when required.

• Respond promptly to guest or resident requests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Previous housekeeping or cleaning experience is an asset.

• Ability to work independently and efficiently.

• Strong attention to detail and time-management skills.

• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and safety procedures.

• Physical stamina to handle standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.

Working Conditions

• May be required to work weekends, holidays, or evenings.

• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.

• Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to [X] lbs.
