A housekeeper is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation in residential or commercial settings like hotels and hospitals. Key tasks include cleaning, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, changing linens, vacuuming, and restocking supplies. They ensure a safe, orderly, and comfortable environment for guests or residents.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
Cleaning & Sanitizing: Thoroughly clean guest rooms, restrooms, public areas, and hallways, including scrubbing toilets, showers, and sinks.
Surface Maintenance: Dust furniture, polish fixtures, clean mirrors, and wipe down surfaces to remove stains and dirt.
Floor Care:
Vacuum carpets and rugs, and sweep and mop hard floors
.
Linen Management: Strip, wash, dry, and fold linens, and make beds with fresh sheets.
Stocking Supplies: Replenish toiletries, towels, soap, and other guest amenities.
Trash Removal: Empty waste bins and dispose of waste correctly.
Reporting & Maintenance: Identify and report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damages to management.
Safety Compliance: Follow hygiene protocols, handle cleaning chemicals safely, and manage biohazardous waste (especially in hospitals).
