Strategic :
Implement the business plan and operations strategy for the Distribution Centre that ensures attainment of company goals and profitability.
Formulate in conjunction with the Regional Head, the DC's financial, operational, people, process and service related objectives to drive continuous improvement and ensure optimal performance metrics are achieved
Financial :
Assist the Senior Management team in DC budgeting for the year
Ensure meeting the Operating Profit Margin as defined in the budget for the DC
Ensure Operating Costs are in line with the volumes handled and are able to fetch the committed margin to the company
Ensure minimal loss in expired, damaged, rejected & obsolete (EDRO) goods.
Oversee the reduction in Variable costs & Repairs and Maintenance costs
Monitor the DC performance and service target achievement on a periodic basis
Monitor the payments schedules and status for all clients and ensure timely realization of payments / collections
Operational:
Ensure effective resource allocation and efficient planning of daily / weekly / monthly volumes
Ensure adherence to all the service level agreements as defined by the client and internal company policies
Ensure efficient operations of DC management system(s), related equipment, inbound operations, inventory storage in the warehouse, outbound operations etc.
Coordinate effectively and work in conjunction with the logistics team for smooth transportation of goods and materials.
Ensure effective capacity utilization through effective layout of warehouse, goods / material placement, inventory movement and maintenance of warehouse
Set and report KPI for the DC to track performance and identify improvement opportunities including cycle / lead time, storage / capacity utilization, inventory fill rate, inventory and location accuracy, inventory turnaround rate, pilferage / lost / damaged Inventory rate etc.
Evaluate the effectiveness of alternatives work methods, procedures, controls and staffing to achieve timely and correct movement of goods and optimally manage warehouse layout
Build strong knowledge collation / database within the system which helps store and generate results for future requirements.
Ensure that all movements of stocks, in & out of the DC is backed up by accurate documentation which are already reflected in the system
Ensure zero deviations in internal as well as client Audits
Have a check and control on Expired , Damaged , Rejected & Obsolete stocks
Enforce FEFO in stock movements.
Identify, isolate and dispose expired, damaged, rejected & obsolete (EDRO) products.
Proactively work on avoiding these types of qualified stocks
No EDRO stocks are delivered to clients or stored in the area allotted for good stocks
Comply with FSSAI procedures and standards and maintain highest quality and food safety standards within the DC
Develop suitable programs for maintaining company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, and safety of equipment and facilities in a manner that assures their most efficient operation.
Co-ordinate with procurement, sales and finance and assist them in setting up systems that ensure timely collection and raising of invoice, both Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable
Develop and implement procedures and guidelines on workmen’s floor discipline.
Identify safety hazards at the warehouse and put in place control system to ensure safe working environment
Maintain a clean and healthy environment within the DC as per the statutory requirements and company policies.
Developmental :
Evaluate key resource requirements at all levels for the DC and work closely with the DC - HR Manager in preparation & adherence to Manpower Requirement planning.
Handle the DC project deliverables meetings and review meetings.
Develop & coach team members, allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, identify & facilitate training needs.
Carry out performance appraisal; provide feedback and initiate developmental actions.
Guide and take disciplinary action if the situation requires.
Discuss and guide on issues leading to attrition and ensure it is within the permissible levels.
