Key Responsibilities
1. Benchmarking & Competitive Analysis
Conduct benchmarking studies for competitor products (mattresses, sofas, bedding,
upholstery fabrics).
Prepare comparative performance reports and detailed cost analysis.
Identify improvement opportunities based on benchmarking insights.
2. Textile & Material Testing (Mattress, Sofa & Home Textiles)
Perform fabric testing for woven, knitted, upholstery, and ticking materials including:
o Washing test
o Color fastness
o Laundrometer test
o Pilling & abrasion resistance
o pH value
o Tearing & tensile strength
o GSM, shrinkage, and dimensional stability
Test cushioning and comfort materials such as foam, fiber-fill, quilting, and non-woven
layers.
3. Performance, Durability & ASTM Testing
Conduct firmness, hardness, indentation load deflection (ILD), and durability testing for
mattresses and sofa foams.
Perform life-cycle testing for fabrics, upholstery materials, and finished prototypes.
Execute ASTM, ISO, and industry-specific compliance tests and maintain accurate
documentation.
4. Testing Documentation & Data Management
Maintain structured testing records for all NPD projects.
Prepare test reports, data sheets, and technical summaries for internal and external
stakeholders.
Support decision-making for mass production approvals.
5. Supplier Coordination & Technology Scouting
Visit supplier facilities to explore new textiles, comfort materials, technologies, and
manufacturing processes.
Identify innovative materials suitable for mattresses, sofas, and home textiles.
Assist in evaluating supplier capabilities and product samples.
6. NPD Project Support
Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM), product specifications, and testing protocols.
Develop and update testing Gantt charts, plan-vs-actual trackers, and timelines.
Conduct sensor mat analysis, thermal regulation studies, and comfort evaluation where
required.
7. Quality & Process Improvement
Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards (ASTM, ISO, REACH,
etc.).
Participate in root-cause analysis for failures and propose corrective measures.
Support pilot builds and early-stage manufacturing trials.
