Job Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the company's logistics operations to ensure timely, cost-effective, and compliant movement of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods. The role involves managing transportation, warehousing, inventory movement, export/import logistics, freight negotiations, and ensuring compliance with statutory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Logistics & Transportation

• Plan and manage inbound and outbound logistics operations.

• Coordinate domestic and international shipments.

• Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of finished goods.

• Optimize transportation routes and reduce logistics costs.

• Monitor transporter performance and service levels.

• Resolve delivery delays and logistics-related issues.

Warehouse Coordination

• Coordinate with warehouse teams for efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials.

• Ensure proper inventory movement and stock accuracy.

• Monitor loading and unloading activities.

• Ensure FIFO/FEFO practices are followed where applicable.

Export & Import Operations

• Manage export documentation including Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Shipping Bill, Certificate of Origin, MSDS, and other statutory documents.

• Coordinate with freight forwarders, CHA, shipping lines, airlines, and customs authorities.

• Track export and import shipments until successful delivery.

• Ensure compliance with DGFT, Customs, and other regulatory requirements.

Vendor & Freight Management

• Develop and maintain relationships with transporters, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers.

• Negotiate freight rates and logistics contracts.

• Evaluate vendor performance periodically.

• Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality.

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain logistics documentation and shipment records.

• Ensure compliance with company SOPs, customer requirements, and statutory regulations.

• Coordinate insurance claims for damaged or lost goods.

• Support audits related to logistics and supply chain.

Inventory Coordination

• Work closely with Procurement, Production, Sales, and Warehouse departments.

• Monitor inventory movement and stock transfers.

• Ensure timely availability of materials for production.

• Coordinate cycle counts and stock reconciliation.

Team Management

• Lead and supervise logistics executives, warehouse coordinators, and dispatch teams.

• Allocate work and monitor team performance.

• Conduct training on logistics procedures and safety.

• Foster a culture of discipline, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Reporting & MIS

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly logistics reports.

• Track KPIs such as transportation cost, on-time delivery, vehicle utilization, freight expenses, and dispatch efficiency.

• Analyze logistics performance and recommend improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

• MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain or Operations (preferred).

Experience

• 7–10 years of experience in logistics and supply chain management.

• Experience in FMCG, Cosmetics, Essential Oils, Chemicals, or Manufacturing industries preferred.

• Experience in export/import logistics is highly desirable.
