Summary
The Facility Manager is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, and functionality of the warehouse facility. This role ensures that buildings, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure operate efficiently to support warehouse operations while meeting safety, compliance, and cost-control objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Facility & Infrastructure Management
Oversee maintenance of warehouse buildings, docks, racking systems, offices, and yards
Ensure proper functioning of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and lighting systems
Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs
· Oversee coordination with the landlord and client to ensure alignment on the central theme store space.
· Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with warehouse providers to ensure strategic storage solutions.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA/local laws)
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
Maintain fire safety systems, emergency exits, and evacuation plans
Vendor & Contractor Management
Manage external service providers (cleaning, security, maintenance, waste management)
Negotiate contracts and monitor vendor performance
Supervise contractors during on-site work
Asset & Equipment Management
Maintain material handling equipment (forklifts, conveyors, dock levelers)
Track facility assets and maintenance records
Coordinate equipment inspections and certifications
Budget & Cost Control
Prepare and manage facility maintenance budgets
Control utility costs and identify energy-saving initiatives
Approve maintenance-related expenses
Space & Layout Management
Support warehouse layout optimization and space utilization
Coordinate facility changes for new processes or expansions
Emergency & Issue Management
Respond to facility-related emergencies and breakdowns
Coordinate repairs to minimize operational downtime
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Facilities Management, or related field
3–5 years of facility management experience (warehouse/logistics preferred)
Strong knowledge of building systems and warehouse operations
Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards
Good vendor management and negotiation skills
Strong problem-solving and communication abilities
Preferred Skills
Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)
Knowledge of sustainability and energy management practices
Forklift or MHE safety knowledge
