Steward – Roles & Responsibilities

A Steward is responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and smooth service operations in restaurants, hotels, cafés, and food service establishments.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Table Service Support

   • Set up tables with cutlery, crockery, glasses, and condiments.

   • Clear and clean tables after guests leave.

   • Refill water and assist guests when required.

2. Cleaning & Hygiene

   • Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, and pantry areas.

   • Ensure all utensils, plates, and glassware are clean and properly stored.

   • Follow food safety and hygiene standards.

3. Guest Assistance

   • Welcome guests politely and guide them to their seats.

   • Respond to guest requests promptly and professionally.

   • Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.

4. Kitchen & Service Support

   • Assist in carrying food and beverages from the kitchen to service areas.

   • Help with banquet and event setups when required.

   • Ensure adequate stock of service items and supplies.

5. Equipment Handling

   • Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment safely.

   • Report any damaged equipment or maintenance issues to supervisors.

6. Compliance

   • Adhere to company policies, grooming standards, and safety procedures.

   • Follow health and sanitation regulations at all times.

Skills Required:

• Good communication skills

• Physical stamina and ability to work in shifts

• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety
