Restaurant Server Job Description – Olive Garden

Position Title: Server

Position Summary

The Server is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service by creating a welcoming dining experience, taking accurate orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their visit. Servers embody Olive Garden's commitment to hospitality and family-style dining.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome guests warmly and create a friendly dining atmosphere.

• Present menus and provide recommendations on food and beverage selections.

• Take accurate food and beverage orders and enter them into the POS system.

• Serve food and beverages promptly while ensuring order accuracy.

• Monitor guest satisfaction and respond quickly to requests or concerns.

• Maintain knowledge of menu items, ingredients, and daily specials.

• Process guest payments accurately and efficiently.

• Follow food safety, sanitation, and company standards.

• Assist with table setup, cleaning, and maintaining a neat dining area.

• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and team members to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Strong customer service orientation.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Basic math and cash-handling skills.

• Ability to stand, walk, and carry trays for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous restaurant or hospitality experience preferred.

• Familiarity with POS systems.

• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
