A CCTV Technician is responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of CCTV and surveillance systems to ensure reliable security coverage. The role requires technical expertise in camera systems, recording devices, networking, and cabling, along with adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and commission CCTV cameras, DVRs/NVRs, monitors, and related security equipment.
Plan and lay structured cabling (coaxial, UTP, fiber) and ensure proper power and network connections.
Configure system settings, camera angles, resolutions, and storage parameters for optimal performance.
Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and conduct preventive maintenance to minimize system downtime.
Integrate CCTV systems with networks, access control, or alarm systems where required.
Test systems and ensure compliance with technical specifications and security standards.
Provide technical support, user guidance, and basic training to clients or end users.
Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and service records.
Follow workplace safety procedures and industry best practices at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
Diploma or technical certification in electronics, IT, or a related field.
Proven experience with CCTV, surveillance, and security systems.
Knowledge of networking basics (IP addressing, LAN/WAN) and system configuration.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate professionally.
