Pre-Operative Duties
Prepare the operating room before each procedure, ensuring cleanliness & proper arrangement of surgical instruments.
Assist in setting up sterile surgical fields and draping patients.
Ensure all necessary equipment and instruments are ready and in working condition.
Check and arrange supplies such as sutures, catheters, gloves, and gowns.
Intra-Operative Assistance
Assist surgeons and nursing staff during procedures by passing instruments, holding retractors, and managing surgical tools.
Monitor and operate basic OT equipment under supervision.
Maintain sterile techniques and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
Assist with patient positioning and preparation as required.
Post-Operative Duties
Clean and sterilize instruments and the operating room after surgery.
Transport surgical instruments to the sterilization unit.
Dispose of waste material according to biomedical waste management protocols.
Assist in transferring patients from the OT to recovery or wards under supervision.
Equipment & Inventory Management
Check, maintain, & report the condition of OT equipment (lights, suction machines, monitors).
Assist in maintaining OT stock levels and alerting senior staff to shortages.
Documentation & Support
Assist with recording data such as instrument counts and procedure logs.
Support documentation related to OT maintenance and infection control audits.
Help prepare OT for emergency surgeries and always maintain readiness.
