Maintenance Technician – Injection Moulding Machines

Job Purpose
To ensure smooth, safe, and uninterrupted operation of all plastic injection moulding machines and associated equipment by performing preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance efficiently, thereby minimizing downtime, reducing production losses, and maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Machine Maintenance
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per schedule for all injection moulding machines.
Attend breakdowns immediately and restore machines to operation with minimal downtime.
Diagnose and repair issues related to:
Hydraulic systems
Electrical systems
Mechanical components
PLC controls (basic level)
Maintain proper functioning of:
Clamping units
Injection units
Barrel, screw, heaters, thermocouples
Sensors, Switches & sliding parts
2. Auxiliary Equipment Maintenance
Maintain and troubleshoot all supporting equipment, including:
Hopper dryers / dehumidifiers
Material loaders (auto loaders)
Chillers
Cooling towers
Air compressors
Mould temperature controllers (MTC)
Conveyors and handling systems etc
3. Preventive Maintenance & Documentation
Execute daily, weekly, and monthly PM checklists.
Maintain records of:
Machine history
Breakdown reports
Spare parts usage
Ensure all maintenance logs are properly filled and signed.
4. Mould & Tool Support
Assist in mould fitting, removal, and alignment.
Check mould cooling lines, ejector systems, and hydraulic connections.
Support mould trials and ensure machines are ready for production.
5. Spare Parts & Inventory
Identify critical spare parts and inform the management in advance.
Maintain minimum stock levels of essential spares.
Ensure proper usage and avoid wastage of parts.
6. Safety & Compliance
Follow all safety procedures during maintenance work.
Ensure machines are safe to operate after maintenance.
Use proper PPE at all times.
Report unsafe conditions immediately.
7. Continuous Improvement
Suggest improvements to reduce:
Machine breakdowns
Energy consumption
Maintenance costs
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.
8. Coordination
Work closely with:
Production team
Quality team
Tool room
Ensure quick response to production issues affecting output.

Required Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Knowledge of injection moulding machine operation
Basic understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems

Qualification & Experience
ITI / Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics
2–5 years of experience in plastic injection moulding industry (preferred)
Working Conditions
Shop floor environment
Rotational shifts (if applicable)
May require working during breakdown emergencies
Accountability Clauses (Strict)
Responsible for delays in attending breakdowns
Responsible for repeated machine failures due to negligence
Non-compliance with PM schedules will be treated seriously
Any safety violation will lead to disciplinary action
Authority
Can stop machine operation if unsafe
Can recommend machine shutdown for major repair
Can escalate critical issues to management
