The Cinematographer is responsible for creating the visual style and look of a film, video, advertisement, music video, or other production. They collaborate closely with the director to translate the creative vision into compelling visuals through camera work, lighting, composition, lenses, and movement.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop the visual style and cinematographic approach for each project.
Collaborate with the director during pre-production to plan shots and visual storytelling.
Select cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, filters, and other camera-related equipment.
Design and execute lighting setups appropriate to the mood and story.
Determine camera angles, framing, composition, movement, and shot types.
Operate or supervise camera operations during production.
Work with the camera, lighting, grip, and production teams.
Conduct location and technical assessments before filming.
Ensure visual consistency across scenes and shooting days.
Manage camera and lighting requirements within the production budget.
Review footage and maintain appropriate technical and visual standards.
Coordinate with the colorist and post-production team to achieve the intended final look.
Adapt quickly to changing locations, schedules, weather, and production requirements.
Follow all production, equipment, and on-set safety procedures.
