About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Handicraft Trainer to conduct structured training sessions for beneficiaries, focusing on developing creative, market-relevant handicraft skills. The role requires a balance of technical expertise, patience, and a strong commitment to social impact. The trainer will play a critical role in enabling individuals to build sustainable livelihoods through craft-based skills.
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver structured training modules in handicrafts such as:
Lippan art, embroidery, stitching, basic textile crafts
DIY products, decorative items, and utility-based crafts
Conduct regular hands-on training sessions with a focus on skill-building and quality output
Develop training plans aligned with market demand and income-generation opportunities
Assess trainees’ progress and provide continuous feedback and mentoring
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment
Support product development for exhibitions, sales, and social enterprise initiatives
Maintain records of attendance, progress, and output quality
Ensure proper documentation and reporting of each trainee, including skill assessment, progress tracking, and output records
Coordinate with internal teams for material procurement and program planning
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience in handicraft training or related creative fields
Strong expertise in at least 2–3 handicraft forms (traditional or contemporary)
Ability to simplify techniques for beginners and diverse learner groups
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work in a socially driven environment
Basic understanding of product finishing, quality control, and market trends
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with NGOs, community groups, or skill development programs
Knowledge of sustainable or eco-friendly craft practices
Exposure to small-scale product development and sales
