Senior Consultant - System Management Eversource MS SQL DBA Senior SQL DBA Location PuneChennai Role Type Fulltime Experience 8 10 years Senior level Role Summary We are seeking a seasoned Senior SQL Database Administrator to lead the design implementation and operations of our SQL Server and Azure SQL estates This role will own High Availability HA and Disaster Recovery DR strategies drive performance optimization across missioncritical workloads and ensure robust security and compliance The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server Always On and Azure SQL PaaS paired with strong automation and troubleshooting capability across Windows and virtualized environments Key Responsibilities Platform Ownership Operations Administer monitor and optimize MS SQL Server 200820192022 instances onprem and virtualized Manage Azure SQL PaaS Azure SQL Database Elastic Pools Azure SQL Managed Instance including deployment networking security backups and performance Implement and manage SQL Server Always On Availability Groupsdesign build patch failoverfailback listener configuration and ongoing health checks High Availability DR Define and maintain HADR topology across Always On Clustered Instances Mirroring Log Shipping and Replication where applicable Design and test DR plans RPORTO and lead periodic recovery exercises and BCPWAR validations Performance Reliability Conduct endtoend performance tuning and query optimization indexes statistics execution plans partitioning Troubleshoot CPU memory IO disk and lockinglatching contentions remediate systemic bottlenecks Database Engineering Development Support Author and review TSQL stored procedures views functions triggers enforce coding standards and deployment best practices Partner with developers and application owners on data modeling schema evolution and release pipelines Patching Security Compliance Plan and execute service packs CUs and security patches for SQL Server Windows and driversagents Implement encryption key management RBAC auditing vulnerability remediation and compliance alignment Automation Tooling Build automation for backups restores integrity checks index maintenance statistics updates and housekeeping with SQL Server Agent Jobs scripts and DevOps tooling Utilize DMA Database Migration Assistant SSISDTS ProfilerExtended Events and monitoring platforms eg Azure MonitorLog Analytics Governance Documentation Maintain runbooks topology diagrams SOPs and change records contribute to standards and architecture reviews Provide L3 oncall support and mentorship to junior DBAs lead incidentrootcause analysis Mandatory Skills MustHave SQL Server Always On endtoend configuration administration and lifecycle management of Availability Groups multisubnet readable secondaries quorumwitness failover orchestration Azure SQL PaaS Administration handson with Azure SQL Database andor Azure SQL Managed Instancedeployment scaling networking VNET private endpoints security AAD roles backuprestore performance and cost optimization Required Qualifications 812 years of progressive experience as a SQL DBA in Windows and virtualized environments Strong expertise in MS SQL Server 200820192022 administration migration and operations Proven experience with HADR options Log Shipping Mirroring Replication Failover Clustering and DR exercises Advanced TSQL skills confident in code reviews and performance tuning Proficiency in backuprestore strategies recovery models integrity checks DBCC commands indexfragmentation management and shrink operations used judiciously Experience with SQL Server Agent Jobs s scheduling and job automation Familiarity with ProfilerExtended Events SSISDTS and DMA for assessment and migrations Strong troubleshooting of CPUmemoryIOdisk contention and storage latency issues Solid understanding of security encryption auditing patching and compliance practices Preferred NicetoHave Exposure to Sybase administration and migration to SQL ServerAzure SQL Knowledge of PowerShell Azure CLI Experience with Always On in crossregion scenarios and hybrid Azure Arc patterns Monitoring with Azure Monitor Log Analytics or thirdparty APM eg Redgate SentryOne SolarWinds DPA Familiarity with data virtualization partitioning inmemory OLTP and columnstore where relevant
