Position Overview
The School Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves monitoring school grounds, enforcing safety policies, responding to incidents, and promoting a positive, orderly atmosphere on campus.
Monitor school entrances, hallways, grounds, and parking areas to ensure safety and security.
Enforce school rules, safety procedures, and visitor protocols.
Check identification, screen visitors, and maintain visitor logs.
Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, accidents, or suspicious activities.
Assist school administration during drills, such as fire, lockdown, or evacuation drills.
Patrol the school campus regularly to deter unauthorized individuals and unsafe behavior.
Provide support during arrival and dismissal to maintain order and student safety.
Document incidents accurately and submit reports to school leadership.
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and local law enforcement when needed.
Build positive relationships with students to encourage a safe and respectful school culture.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge of basic security and safety procedures.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
Strong communication, observation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond quickly across the school campus.
Must pass background checks, fingerprinting, and any required training or certification.
Indoor and outdoor duties in various weather conditions.
Interaction with students, staff, families, and visitors daily.
May require working during special events, after-school activities, or extended hours.
