Job Description

To lead the development, specification and market penetration of fabric / textile‐coating solutions (for upholstery, curtains, interior fabrics, outdoor fabrics etc) within Asian Paints’ décor/coatings business. The role will bridge product technology, application performance, marketing-/sales support, and customer/contractor interface.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Technology

Collaborate with R&D / Technology team to define coating formulations for fabrics (durability, washability, flame retardance, finish, feel).

Plan & execute lab trials and field trials of fabric coating products; analyse performance vs competitive solutions.

Monitor fabric substrate behaviour (weaves, fibre types, pre‐treatments) and ensure compatibility with coatings.

Market & Application

Map fabric/textile segment (interior décor, upholstery, outdoor furniture, automotive fabric etc) and develop the business potential.

Interact with fabric mills, coating applicators, design houses, contract furnishing suppliers to generate specification and application leads.

Conduct site visits, application audits, and support customer trials of fabric coatings.

Sales & Training Support

Support Sales / Project teams by organising demo sessions, training for applicators / contractors / dealers on correct application of fabric coatings, finishing techniques.

Provide technical consultancy and troubleshooting in the application chain (pre-treatment, coating, curing, finishing).

Prepare technical data sheets, application guidelines, and ensure quality checks post-application.

Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance of coatings on fabrics with relevant standards (fire retardancy, durability, environmental, wash cycles).

Monitor complaints or failures and implement corrective actions.

Work with manufacturing and application teams to ensure consistency of final finish and customer satisfaction.

Business & Strategy

Develop segment strategy for fabric coatings including product portfolio, pricing, competitor benchmarking.

Generate regular market intelligence and feedback to Tech/Marketing/Manufacturing teams on customer needs, new trends in fabrics and finishes (e.g., outdoor fabrics, smart textiles).

Track key KPIs: new specification wins, volume growth, application trials success rate, contractor network development.
