An AC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing air‑conditioning systems, including VRF/VRV, split ACs, ductable units, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, and ventilation systems. The role ensures optimal cooling performance, energy efficiency, and safe operation of HVAC equipment.
1. Installation & Commissioning
Install split ACs, cassette units, ductable units, VRF/VRV systems, and package units.
Perform copper piping, brazing, insulation, drain piping, and electrical connections.
Conduct system vacuuming, gas charging, leak testing, and commissioning.
2. Maintenance & Servicing
Perform routine preventive maintenance (filters, coils, blowers, drain lines).
Check refrigerant levels, compressor health, electrical components, and system pressures.
Clean indoor/outdoor units and ensure proper airflow and cooling efficiency.
3. Troubleshooting & Repair
Diagnose faults in compressors, PCB boards, sensors, motors, and refrigerant circuits.
Repair or replace defective parts and restore system functionality.
Handle refrigerants safely as per industry standards.
4. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain service logs, checklists, and maintenance records.
Report major issues to supervisors or facility managers.
Suggest improvements for system performance and energy savings.
5. Safety & Compliance
Follow electrical and mechanical safety protocols.
Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and company SOPs.
Use PPE and maintain safe working practices.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration cycles.
Ability to read wiring diagrams, control schematics, and layout drawings.
Skilled in brazing, vacuuming, leak detection, and gas charging.
Good problem‑solving and diagnostic skills.
Basic electrical knowledge (amps, volts, continuity testing).
Ability to work independently or in a team.
