Qualification:

GNM / B.Sc. Nursing (Preferred)

Ayurveda Nursing / Panchakarma Training (Desirable)
Registration: Valid State Nursing Council Registration


2. Purpose of the Job
To provide safe, ethical, and quality nursing care to patients in accordance with Ayurveda principles and NABH standards, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and effective clinical outcomes in both OPD and IPD settings.


3. Key Responsibilities
A. Patient Care Responsibilities

• Provide holistic nursing care based on Ayurveda principles.
  Monitor and record vital signs (BP, pulse, temperature, respiration).
  Maintain nursing assessment records and patient progress notes.
  Ensure pre, intra, and post-procedure care for Panchakarma therapies.
  Identify and report adverse reactions/complications immediately.
  
  B. Panchakarma Assistance
  

• Prepare patient for Panchakarma procedures (Snehana, Swedana, etc.).

  Assist in procedures such as:
  Vamana
  Virechana
  Basti (Matra, Niruha, etc.)
  Nasya
  

• Ensure correct positioning, privacy, and comfort of patient.

  Monitor patient during and after procedures.

• Maintain therapy records and documentation.
  
  C. IPD (In-Patient Department) Responsibilities
  

• Admission and orientation of patients.

• Maintain bedside nursing care and hygiene.

• Administer medications as prescribed.

• Monitor dietary compliance (Pathya-Apathya).

• Maintain intake-output charts.

• Prepare patients for discharge and provide instructions.
  
  D. Infection Control & Safety (NABH Compliance)
  

• Follow infection control practices (hand hygiene, PPE use)

• Ensure sterilization and disinfection of instruments.

• Biomedical waste segregation as per protocols.

• Prevent hospital-acquired infections (HAI).

• Ensure patient safety measures (fall prevention, identification).
  
  E. Documentation & Records
  

• Maintain accurate and complete:

• Nursing records

• Treatment sheets

• Consent forms

• Incident reports

• Ensure timely and legible documentation as per NABH standards.

• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
  

• H. Patient Education & Communication

Educate patients on:

Treatment procedures

Diet (Pathya-Apathya)

Lifestyle modifications

Provide discharge counseling.
Handle patient queries and concerns empathetically.


I. Emergency Handling

Identify early signs of complications.
Provide first aid and basic life support (BLS).
Assist in emergency situations until referral (if hospital is non-emergency setup)

Knowledge of Ayurveda & Panchakarma procedures

Strong clinical and observation skills

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Documentation and record-keeping ability
Basic emergency handling skills

6. Working Conditions

Rotational shifts (including night duty for IPD)
Exposure to Panchakarma therapies and ayurveda medicines

Direct patient care environment


7. Ethical & Legal Responsibilities

Maintain patient confidentiality

Adhere to hospital policies and NABH standards

Ensure informed consent is obtained
